Despite the high level of ruggedness the external Stanley panel is no thicker than the diameter of a 5 pence piece.

 

The outer metal casing houses a tough polycarbonate cell which protects the electronics from moisture and impact. The potentially vulnerable LCD touchscreen is supported on foam shock absorbers which allow it to move back should the screen area be hit. Elsewhere internal pillars transfer impact force through the assembly into the wall behind.
